Jordyn Sweezey

Artist member since 2019
Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan

Jordyn was born in Humboldt, SK in 1991. She currently lives & works in Paradise Hill, SK. Sweezey works in many different mediums including: watercolor, chalk pastel, acrylics, print making and graphite's on canvas and paper. Jordyn has long focused on large scale abstract paintings, she has most recently started her art journey focusing on portraiture, figurative and animal artwork, tunneling in on woman empowerment, inspiration and creating awareness of mental illness. In 2012, Jordyn taught herself how to create abstract art, this resulted in commission orders, focusing mainly on textured abstract pieces, ranging from 2 feet to 15 feet long. She was able to achieve a well-known status throughout the rural communities, by having her art shown around Lloydminster in local businesses. In 2016, Jordyn took a couple years off to focus on her family, she has since come back and broadened out her art creations in 2018. Jordyn started to pursue her passion in portraits and figurative work by taking an Experimental Portraiture class through Lakeland College in Lloydminster with Brandi Hofer. By learning from one of the well-known and outstanding artists in our community has helped Jordyn grow into herself as an artist and connect with her purpose in the art industry. Mental Illness became a big part of Jordyn’s life in early 2018, while going through her own struggles and losses, she wanted to make awareness. She creates each art piece with a message or a feeling, in hopes it can help someone through their journey in life. She strives to move those around her, to help create inspiration within themselves, to get up and have a kick ass day or to just sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery. Whatever it is you may be looking for in your day, she hopes art is something that can help. Jordyn currently works out of her home based studio in Paradise Hill, SK.
